Well known standards and pretty new ones
In the Netherlands, the national standards institute, NEN, assists the ISO in the development of the international standards.
The standards for management systems for quality and environmental responsibility are well known in many organizations. More recent standards concern sustainability management and social responsibility. Underneath is a small overview on actual systems.
- For quality management a complete range of standards is available. Certification is only possible based on the ISO9001:2008. Besides the certification, the quality system can be extended in many ways, for instance with the guideline ISO9004:2009,which supports management of sustainable success of organization, or with the guidelines for customer satisfaction in ISO10001:2007 or on the treatment of customer complaints in ISO10002:2004. Another important guideline is the ISO10006:2003 for quality management in projects.
- The certification standard ISO14001:2004 gives the requirements and guidelines for environmental management systems.
- Requirements and guidelines for working conditions for human resources are available in OHSAS18001:2007.
- Guidelines for sustained and social responsible management are under development in ISO/DIS26000:2009.
- Also still under development is guideline NPR6070:2010 for sustained management of human resource.
